Concept & Design Story

The design of this project draws inspiration from traditional Nepali architecture, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. The exterior uses exposed brick, pitched tiled roofs, deep overhangs, timber-framed windows, and traditional detailing to create a strong connection with the local architectural character. Rather than reproducing heritage architecture literally, we translated its proportions, materials, and craftsmanship into a more refined and functional language.

Inside, the same architectural vocabulary continues through warm timber, exposed brick, carved screens, patterned partitions, and earthy tones. These elements create visual continuity between the exterior and interior while adding texture and depth to the spaces. The use of traditional jali-inspired screens also provides subtle separation without making the interiors feel enclosed.

The result is a space that feels rooted in place yet contemporary in experience—preserving the character of Nepali architecture while creating a comfortable, timeless environment for modern use.
